Resume Version Comparator — which resume wins the job?

Put two versions of your resume side by side. See every skill, bullet and keyword that changed, whether each edit made it stronger, and which version an employer is more likely to shortlist. Private: it runs in your browser.

What it compares

How it works

  1. Add two versions: upload PDFs or DOCX files, paste text, or pick resumes from the builder, your saved resumes or the Job Hunt Tracker.
  2. Optionally paste a job description.
  3. Read the verdict and the reasons behind it.
  4. Open each tab to see exactly what changed.

Frequently asked questions

What does the Resume Version Comparator do?

It puts two versions of your resume side by side and shows exactly what changed — skills added or removed, roles and dates, every bullet that was rewritten, added or removed — and whether each edit made the resume stronger. Add a job description and it also tells you which version covers more of what the employer asks for.

How does it decide which version is better?

With a job description, the winner is the version with the higher job-match score (required skills, keyword coverage, responsibilities, experience and title). Without one, it uses resume strength: measurable results, action verbs, core sections, contact details, length and weak phrases. The reasons behind the verdict are listed, so you can see why.

Can it tell a rewritten bullet from a new one?

Yes. Bullets are matched by meaning, not position, so a rewrite like “Ran A/B tests” → “Ran 14 A/B tests that lifted conversion 9–18%” is shown as one rewritten bullet with the exact words that changed — and marked stronger because it gained a result. Roles are matched even if you renamed the title.

Which files can I compare?

PDF, DOCX or TXT files, pasted text, your resume in the Resumebix builder, any saved resume, or — with the Job Hunt Tracker — the exact version you sent with an application. You can mix sources, for example an old PDF against your current builder resume.

Are my resumes uploaded or stored?

No. Both resumes and the job description are read and compared entirely in your browser; nothing is sent to our servers. Closing or refreshing the page clears them.

Is the comparator free?

The verdict, skills changes and scores are free. The detailed comparison — every bullet rewrite word by word, achievement analysis, the keyword-by-keyword table and the downloadable PDF report — is part of Resumebix Pro, and free for everyone during early access.
