Executive Resume Template for 10+ Years Experience
Executive hiring panels look for strategic outcomes: revenue grown, costs reshaped, organisations built and turned around. This template gives you an executive summary and a selected-achievements block up front, then a condensed career history — in a classic layout that also clears ATS.
Best for: Directors, VPs, heads of function and senior managers with 10+ years of experience, including those working with executive recruiters.
Best resume format: Executive (hybrid)
Executive summary and selected achievements first, then reverse-chronological roles with scope lines (team, budget, region) — recent roles in depth, early career condensed.

How to write a 10+ years experience resume
- Lead every role with a one-line scope statement: team size, budget/P&L, geographies.
- Put 3–5 headline achievements in a "Selected Achievements" block under the summary.
- Quantify at business level: revenue, margin, market share, cost base, valuation, retention.
- Group roles before ~2010 into "Earlier Career" with titles and companies only.
- Keep design classic and single-column — executive resumes are forwarded, printed and parsed.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Operational detail (tools, daily tasks) that belongs to a more junior resume.
- A three-page career history that buries recent leadership.
- Generic leadership adjectives ("visionary", "dynamic") instead of outcomes.
- Omitting board, advisory or industry-body roles that signal standing.

10+ Years Experience resume FAQ
How long should an executive resume be?
+
Two pages for most executives. A third page is acceptable only for very senior careers with board roles, publications or significant M&A history.
What is a selected achievements section?
+
A block of three to five headline results under your summary — revenue grown, turnarounds, acquisitions, organisations built. It lets a busy reader see your biggest wins first.
Should a 20-year career all go on the resume?
+
No. Detail the last 10–15 years and summarise earlier roles in an "Earlier Career" line or two.
Is ATS relevant for executive roles?
+
Yes. Most companies and executive search firms still store and search candidates in an ATS, so standard headings and a single-column layout matter even at the top.
Should executives list technical skills?
+
Only those central to the role (e.g. SAP S/4HANA transformation for a CIO). Emphasise leadership competencies such as P&L ownership, M&A and organisation design.
