Frequently asked questions

What is a red flag on a resume?

Anything that makes a recruiter hesitate before reading further: unexplained employment gaps, a run of very short jobs, missing or overlapping dates, personal details like age or marital status, bullets that list duties instead of results, first-person pronouns, clichés and an unprofessional email address.

How do I explain an employment gap on my resume?

Keep it short and honest. Add a one-line entry for the period — for example "Career break — Family care" or "Professional development: completed a Google Data Analytics certificate" — and mention anything you learned or built. The detector suggests wording for common reasons such as caregiving, study, layoffs, health, relocation and freelance work.

Is job hopping a red flag?

A single short job usually isn't. Two or three stays of under a year within five years can make recruiters worry you won't stay. Add a short reason to each (contract, company acquired, team dissolved) or group short contracts under one freelance heading.

Should I put my date of birth or photo on my resume?

Not for jobs in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, Ireland or most of Europe — personal details invite bias. Some countries, such as the Gulf states and Germany, still expect them; the CV Format Converter adds them the right way for those.

Is my resume uploaded anywhere?

No. The file is read and checked in your browser. Nothing is stored unless you choose to open it in the resume builder and save it to your account.
